Images: Ornate bronze funerary couch from Amiternum, 1st century BCE - 1st century CE. This is described as a funerary couch although it probably could have served as a luxurious triclinium couch during the owner's lifetime. Amiternum was an important Sabine city in the upper Aterno Valley. It lay at the junction of four roads: the Via Caecilia, the Via Claudia Nova and two branches of the Via Salaria.
