Selecting the best course of action

Isocrates warning to greedy demagogues in times of crisis:
For you have come together as if it were your business to select the best course from all that are proposed. Nevertheless, [you act] as though you have clear knowledge of what must be done, [but] you are not willing to listen to any except those who speak for your pleasure. Isocrates. On the Peace.
